Project Name

Tobacco was passed to Elders Stella Blackbird and Audrey Bone to hold a naming ceremony for the project. The ceremony was held on December 10, 2013 at Urban Circle Training Centre and the name that came from the spirits was Thunderwing, thunder representing rejuvenation and wing representing protection. The Ojibwe name for Thunderwing is Animikii Aningwiigan. The Cree name for Thunderwing is Khakitochuk Ohkun. The colors of the project are blue, red, white, and yellow.

The project has a responsibility to honour the name and colors of Thunderwing through a feast and tobacco offering each spring.
